From military action against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure to renewed trade negotiations and a high-level meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, the administration has emphasized what it describes as “flexible realism” in advancing U.S. interests. At the same time, efforts to broker ceasefire arrangements in the Middle East, recalibrate NATO commitments, and prioritize competition in the Indo-Pacific and Western Hemisphere reflect a broader strategic reorientation. Major developments in Venezuela, Taiwan, and the Arctic further underscore the administration’s willingness to pair economic statecraft with security initiatives.

This event will feature Dr. George E. Bogden, the Senior Counsel for Trade at Continental Strategy and an attorney focused on cross-border policy, in 2025, he served as Executive Director of the Office of Trade Relations at U.S. Customs and Border Protection, acting as the agency’s primary liaison to the international trade community during a period of significant change in U.S. tariff and trade practices; Dr. J. Michael Waller, a journalist and investigative writer on national security affairs, he is also the author of several books on security, terrorism and political warfare, and he serves as an editorial Board Member at NATO Defence Strategic Communications Journal. Dr. Waller is a regular lecturer for the National Defense University and the National Intelligence University, and was the Walter and Leonore Annenberg Professor of International Communication at the Institute of World Politics in Washington, D.C. for 13 years; and Dr. Ian Oxnevad, NAS Senior Fellow for Foreign Affairs and Security Studies and author of several reports including China and Our Children, The Company They Keep, and After Confucius Institutes: China's Enduring Influence on American Higher Education.
