Few issues in higher education are more divisive than Title IX. Students, parents, civil rights organizations, and administrators often complain about it — either Title IX doesn't go far enough or it's an example of regulatory overreach. What is Title IX? How did it come to govern campus sexual harassment? What do the new regulations released by the Department of Education mean for Title IX administrators and students, both the accused and accusers of Title IX violations?
On May 28th, 2020 the National Association of Scholars hosted, "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of Title IX." Panelists included Samantha Harris, a senior fellow at the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education and Of Counsel for Mudrick & Zucker; KC Johnson, a professor of history at the CUNY Graduate Center and Brooklyn College; and Nicholas H. Wolfinger, a professor of family and consumer studies and adjunct professor of sociology at The University of Utah. The event was moderated by NAS's very own, Teresa Manning.
