VIDEO: Saving Special Education

National Association of Scholars

Americans are a compassionate people who rightly have committed themselves to providing special education—education devoted to the needs of children with physical or mental disabilities. The Federal commitment to special education, unfortunately, has been very badly managed. Federal special education law does not serve the American people well—nor the children who need special education.

That's the argument of Waste Land: Special Education. Discussing that argument, and special education reform more broadly, is report author David Randall (Director of Research, National Association of Scholars), Jonathan Butcher (Acting Director, Center for Education Policy and Will Skillman Senior Research Fellow in Education Policy, The Heritage Foundation), and Miriam Kurtzig Freedman (School Attorney, Teacher, and Author).
