VIDEO: Humility, The Scientific Method, and Climate Change

National Association of Scholars

A large majority of members of the academic and scientific communities appear to have concluded that they thoroughly understand the workings of the earth's atmospheric system; that there is a climate crisis caused by human emissions of greenhouse gases; and that a solution to the crisis lies at hand through a particular transformation of the economy's energy system to eliminate hydrocarbon fuels.

But how much of this is really well known or understood? Application of the scientific method suggests that we know much less than we think we know, and that a large dose of humility is in order.

This event features Francis Menton, a retired lawyer and creator of the Manhattan Contrarian blog, which has published a wide array of articles since its inception in 2012, many relating to issues of public policy and climate change.
