Stanley Kurtz of the Ethics and Public Policy Center introduced panel speakers for Session 5: Whither the West? Stephen Balch, NAS founder and founder of the Institute for the Study of Western Civilization at Texas Tech University, spoke on the powerful legacy of Western civilization and its continued importance in the "modern, global world." Ibn Warraq of the Institute for the Secularisation of Islamic Society spoke on Islam, political correctness, and higher education. Paul Rahe, political historian and professor of history at Hillsdale College, discussed the question, "What is it that distinguishes the West?" The session concluded with a Q&A time. Session 5 was part of the National Association of Scholars' 25th-anniversary conference, "A Mighty Maze" on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Harvard Club in New York.

The videos for each speaker and the Q&A session are below and on NAS's YouTube Channel. Photos from the conference are available on NAS's Flickr page.
