Kate Hamilton

Jonathan Brent, the author of Stalin’s Last Crime and Inside the Stalin Archives, will discuss "Soviet Archives and the Struggle for Truth in History" on January 29, 2012, in New York City.  The event is hosted by the New York Association of Scholars and the CUNY Association of Scholars, local affiliates of the National Association of Scholars, and is set to begin at three in the afternoon.

Dr. Brent founded the internationally acclaimed Annals of Communism series in 1992, and he has since appeared in three documentaries about Stalin. Having received a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Chicago, he founded the literary magazine Formations early in his career. During his eighteen years as Editorial Director and Associate Director at Yale University Press, Dr. Brent was responsible for many publications, including Herman Kruk’s The Last Days of the Jerusalem of Lithuania and The History of the Yiddish Language.  He is a frequent contributor to The Chronicle of Higher Education and New Criterion, among other periodicals, and is currently director of the YIVO Institute in New York City.

The lecture will take place at the home of Nahma Sandrow and Bill Meyers, located at 180 Riverside Drive, apartment 3A, with the entrance on West 90 Street.
