UCLA Starts University for Illegal Immigrants

Ashley Thorne

LA Weekly reports:

The UCLA Center for Labor Research along with the National Labor College have established a virtual school just for undocumented migrants -- the National Dream University.

It's for those who live under the radar of official legitimacy: It will allow so-called Dream Act students (undocumenteds who pay in-state tuition and are eligible for financial aid) to take classes online.

Campus Reform quotes one UCLA student who is not in favor of the program:

“Our first priority in regards to resources from the school should go to students here legally,” said Katie Mellon, Vice Chair of the UCLA College Republicans. “I don’t think we should allocate our limited resources to individuals who are here illegally.”

According to Campus Reform, the National Dream University will "feature a faculty of illegal immigrants."
