Professor Amy Wax in the News

National Association of Scholars

As many of our members and friends remember, in 2017 NAS board member Amy Wax became the target of the anti-free expression movement that is unfortunately so prevalent on American college campuses today. Her sin was to co-author an op-ed advocating for the behaviors that tend to lend themselves to a more successful and stable life. The op-ed highlighted behaviors - “bourgeois values” - such as getting married before having children and abstaining from drug use. Sadly, stating the most basic truths about life is now considered off-limits among many students and faculty in higher education.

Although Professor Wax’s op-ed was published last year, the controversy still garners much attention in the media. Below is a round-up of the recent news about Professor Wax’s efforts to fight for academic and intellectual freedom. We are proud to stand by our board member and NAS’s values of civil debate and free expression.
