I am pleased to announce the appointment of David Randall to the full-time position of Director of Communications. David earned a Ph.D. in history from Rutgers University, an M.F.A. in fiction writing from Columbia University, a master’s degree in library science from the Palmer School at Long Island University, and a B.A. from Swarthmore College. Prior to working at NAS he was the sole librarian at the John McEnroe Library at New York Studio School, where he secured a number of grants for the school’s Lecture Series Archive Digitization Project. He has published a series of young adult fiction, In the Shadow of the Bear, beginning with Clovermead (Simon and Schuster, 2004) [sequels: Chandlefort (2006), Sorrel (2007), Ursus (2010)]. He is also the author of scholarly articles on rhetoric and the public sphere and has been published in Philosophy and Rhetoric, Political Studies, Telos, Modern Language Quarterly, Past and Present, Journal of British Studies, and The Sixteenth Century Journal. David has been an instructor at Montclair State University, St. Francis College, Rutgers University, and Concordia University.
At NAS David will lead research studies on trends in the curriculum beginning with the next edition of Beach Books, scheduled to appear in January 2016. He will also foster relationships with major donors and assist in grant-writing. He brings to NAS a thoughtful and imaginative approach to writing about trends in higher education, and we are delighted to have him on our core team.
