Legal Help for Professors and Students

National Association of Scholars

Professors and students facing threats to their academic freedom and free speech have options for getting help. The National Association of Scholars intervenes regularly on behalf of our members who are caught in the gears of political correctness on their campuses.

Some cases require legal help. One place professors and students can turn to is the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), which protects the rights of students and professors to speak freely and engage in the marketplace of ideas. ADF has won more than 380 campus victories by intervention and direct litigation.

ADF has produced a helpful guide to the legal issues surrounding free speech and academic freedom for faculty members at public universities. Learn more about ADF’s team working to defend academic freedom, free speech, and freedom of association at the ADF website, or by contacting Casey Mattox (cmattox@adflegal.org) or Rebecca Sears (rsears@adflegal.org).
