Professor Joshua Silverstein of the law school at the University of Arkansas–Little Rock has written a law review article making the case that those law schools that still adhere to traditional grading standards (that is, where C is an average grade, not the mark of failure it has become throughout much of our higher education system) should change. Silverstein argues that B minus should be the bottom grade, except in extraordinary cases where the student hasn't even come close to an acceptable level of knowledge. I'm not convinced that this change is warranted, and explain why in this week's Pope Center Clarion Call.
