Johns Hopkins Violates a Donor's Intent

In this week's Pope Center Clarion Call, Martin Morse Wooster writes about a current case involving Johns Hopkins and its plans for intensive development of property that was donated by a woman who wouldn't have given the property had she known how the university would plan to use it.

While the case is at the pre-trial stage, the evidence strongly points to a violation of donor intent. JHU officials knew that Elizabeth Banks, the donor, would have opposed its "Science City" plans, but have gone ahead anyway.
