Is there any real content to "leisure studies"?

In today's Pope Center article, I look at this oxymoronic academic field and conclude that the whole thing seems to be based on nothing more than a groundless belief decades ago that there would be some sociological problem in America when people had to figure out what to do with all the leisure time they were supposed to have. From a recent syrupy Chroncle article sympathizing with a leisure studies prof who found himself being criticized by the likes of Bill O'Reilly, see nothing remotely approaching a body of knowledge worth studying.
