On Wednesday, the National Association of Scholars released Outsourced to China at a report launch in Washington DC. It has attracted media attention, including the following:
- New York Review of Books details the proliferation of Confucius Institutes, using Outsourced to China as a guide, and notes their grasp on Western universities.
- Inside Higher Ed published an article featuring our report, comparing and contrasting NAS's findings to perspectives on Confucius Institutes provided by academic officials affiliated with their school's Confucius Institute.
- The Daily Caller featured NAS's report, noting that, "the controversy injects a new element into a roiling debate over American freedom of speech on campus, which has crested in the Trump era."
- University World News reports on Outsourced to China, reiterating NAS's recommendations for transparency and academic freedom while balancing the narrative with statements by the University of Buffalo and Pace University.
