Harvard Feminists Come Out

It's Women's History Month, and performances of Vagina Monologues seem to be ubiquitous, as we endeavor to advance the cause of women in the higher learning. Based on the content I've seen in the programs underway at various campuses, I'd pose a minor suggestion that Women's History Month be more accurately designated Academic Feminist Polemics Month, or maybe Female Faculty and Students Self-Appreciation Month. Just a thought. Anyway, as the festivities proceed across the country, colleges and universities are predictably awash in feminist guest speakers, feminist seminiars, feminist movies, feminist lectures and demands - yes, really, - for a more active presence for feminism on campus. I thought I'd seen everything though, until I stumbled onto "Feminist Coming Out Day" at Harvard, where students will be declaring publicly that they are - feminists. They'll even be sporting t-shirts announcing this momentous transformation. I'm not sure what this piece of theater is supposed to signify: that it was heretofore difficult to be a feminist at Harvard? WHAT!!? Have a look, since they seem to be serious about it. Oh, and if you happen to spot any t-shirts at Harvard or elsewhere on women declaring that they are not feminists, please pass along that information to this web site. I'm not expecting a tidal wave, needless to say.
