Doris Ariane and Lowell Lawrence Blaisdell, In Memoriam

National Association of Scholars

The NAS is the grateful recipient of a generous estate gift from longtime NAS supporters Lowell and Doris Blaisdell of Denton, TX.

The Blaisdells were no strangers to the realm of academe.

Lowell was a historian, educator, and author of several books including The Desert Revolution: Baja California, 1911 and Carl Hubbell: A Biography of the Screwball King. He taught for more than thirty years as a professor of history at Texas Tech University. Doris worked as an archivist for thirty years at the Southwest Collection, a special collections library at Texas Tech University. Both Lowell and Doris retired in 1990.

Lowell and Doris were active in their community and their church, and served in every way as exemplars of the virtues they believed in: faithfulness, generosity, kindness, and humility.

The NAS is proud to receive this gift from the Blaisdell estate, and prouder still to have had Lowell and Doris as friends for many years. They will be sorely missed.
