Colleges Use Space Inefficiently

In this week's Pope Center Clarion Call, Duke Cheston looks at one of the many reasons why higher education costs more than it needs to, namely the poor utilization of campus space.

This is just what you'd expect in non-profit operations. Since there is nothing much to be gained by minimizing costs, other considerations are at the forefront in decision-making, such as letting students and faculty sleep late and leave early.
