I’m pleased to announce that Ashley Thorne has been promoted to the position of Executive Director of the National Association of Scholars. Ashley joined NAS in 2008 as Director of Communications and became Director of the Center for the Study of the Curriculum in 2012.
Among her many contributions to NAS are grant writing, fund-raising, developing the NAS website, authoring our annual Beach Books reports, shepherding other reports such as Recasting History through revisions and publication, recruiting and managing interns, and writing and speaking on behalf of NAS. Her article “Staged Emergencies” in the spring issue of Academic Questions is especially notable. She is leading our research project on social justice.
Ashley is currently completing a master’s degree in linguistics at the Graduate Center at City University of New York.
As executive director, Ashley will continue to work in the areas of development, fundraising, and personnel, but will also be playing a more active part in budget work, planning, and public representation of the organization. She is looking forward to serving the mission of the National Association of Scholars in her new role.
