A Conservative's Defense of Tenure

David Randall

NAS member David Clemens has just written a defense of tenure from a conservative perspective: the nub of his argument is that "The left controls higher education and ending tenure won’t change that, although without tenure, campuses would become even more of a progressive echo chamber." The article is worth reading, and nicely joins the conversation on tenure that NAS has been hosting this year:

* Russell Eisenman, "Why College Professors Need Tenure," July 14, 2015

* Malcolm Kline, "The Enigma of Tenure," July 14, 2015

* W. Lee Hansen, "Faculty Tenure: Improve It, Don’t Remove It," August 18, 2015.
